Description
Brighton Motorsports is pleased to present this exceptionally rare 1957 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I Mulliner 4 door Sedan. This right hand drive Silver and Dark Gray over Burgundy interior car is believed to be one of only 4 produced with suicide doors. The Mulliner body number is 6004. The odometer reads only 85,442 miles and the VIN is SYB162. The car’s current owner bought it nearly a decade ago in Palm Desert, California from the 2nd owner (a British fighter pilot).
The 6 cylinder engine was rebuilt 5 years ago, is amazingly quiet, runs very well, and is backed by an automatic transmission. This car drives extremely smooth down the freeway as well as slower residential streets. This Rolls handles bumps and rough road spots wonderfully and much better than many other long wheel base cars. The acceleration, braking, and turning are very good as one would expect for such a car.
Once inside the very cool comfort features are stylish and appear endless. The door armrests in the front are height adjustable with a small lever at the bottom. Below the armrests are storage pouches that are next to a knob that opens to even more stowage. The glove box is adequate for additional loading with a convenient and decorative handle above it that matches those between the doors. The dash is simply gorgeous in person and that trim is consistent around the interior and in both folding trays for rear passengers. The upholstery has been restored to precisely match the original door panels. The radio (with toggle switch for up and down antenna) has also been added since new.
Additional neat observations on the interior include very elegant light fixtures, a pouch in rear with a matching pull out mirror, elevated headliner in front and rear (as designed in the ‘50’s for those with hats), front and back retractable center armrests, cigarette lighter with ash tray on each side in rear, and all handles and knobs are a tasteful compliment.
The restoration was first class with the rebuilt engine, new radio, factory color paint, upholstery, brake lines and shoes, exhaust and fuel pump. Overall the car is very reliable, drives extremely well, and both the inside and outside look fantastic in person.
