Description

Brighton Motorsports is pleased to present this 1959 Peerless GT Coupe, a rare one-owner gem, which has been freshly restored in our own shops, completed just this year.

Aside from being rare and collectible, this particular car has special provenance and an exceptionally well documented history, dating back to 1959 when the car was new. We acquired the car from its original owner. The car spent its entire life in California, until we relocated the car to Arizona to carry out the full restoration.

After owning and enjoying the car for many years, the original owner carried out a comprehensive restoration himself in the early 1980's. Both his restoration and ours are fully documented and include all receipts and details. The chain of custody from the one original owner to us is unbroken and documented via titles. Also included in the purchase is a fascinating assortment of historic documents for this car - including correspondence between the owner and the factory and others, technical sheets and diagrams, and many photos of the car throughout its 52-years of history.

Only 290 of these unique sports were ever built, and a scant few survive today. They were made by Peerless Cars Ltd. of Slough, Berkshire between 1957 & 1960.

In 1958, a near-stock Peerless GT raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and placed first in its class and in the top-twenty overall against the likes of the mighty Ferrari and Jaguar cars.

This particular GT is car number 172. It would be a great candidate to add to any collection - or as a collection of one. Without a doubt it will be a popular car wherever it appears, at car events, vintage tours and rallies.

This Peerless GT is unmodified and all stock, and it remains equipped with its original Triumph TR3 4-cylinder engine and twin SU carbs, original 4-speed gearbox, and original DeDion rear-end.

This rare example is also equipped with the optional wire wheels, and left-hand drive steering wheel position. The body is made of one molded piece of lightweight fiberglass over a space frame chassis. A unique feature of this design is the twin fuel tanks located in each of the rocker panels, which aids both the weight distribution and lowers the center of gravity of the car. Also preserved are the tail-fins -- which on some GT's were shaved off by prior owners.

Included in the current restoration was full new paint, new chrome, chassis restoration, all systems restored, fully sorted electrical, new carpet, and full mechanical and engine rebuild. Preserved and left original are the instruments and panel, steering wheel, and suede seating.

Today the car starts, runs and drives like a dream -- it's a pleasure to drive and it certainly stands out among other vintage cars at any event or rally.

This is a fun, rare, and unique car that will provide its new owner with a great value and plenty of smile-inducing motoring.
