Brighton Motorsports is pleased to present this rare 1960 TVR Grantura MK II Coupe in red over black leather interior.  Since they were hand-made there were few of this model produced – likely in the 3 digit range.

These cars were certainly built for speed and handling.  They weigh in around 1540 lbs. and this model has independent suspension front and rear, making use of VW style front suspension at both ends.  This model was also equipped with front disc brakes from new.

The original engine was believed to be a Coventry Climax 1261 cc 4-cylinder with a right hand drive setup.  At some point, it was replaced with a very rare and desirable Fiat 1500 OSCA and converted to left hand drive.  The engine itself is fitted with an alloy twin-cam head and Weber carburetor.

There are many statements by previous owners listed in the Registry and we recognize that some of the statements are historical and some are supposition.  For instance, it is stated this was built with a light weight body shell.  It is fiberglass, as they all are, but we have no idea if this body is lighter than others.  We do not know when the car was fitted with the Fiat Osca engine – but this car and the engine were built around the same time period, possibly suggesting an earlier transplant. 

This little car also has a four speed Fiat gearbox.  The odometer reads 55,558 miles but we do not know if this is actual. The interior and exterior condition are average compared to most marques but certainly in better condition than the average TVR.  The leather seats are in good shape and comfortable.  The car is mechanically up to par and it runs, drives, brakes, and handles well. 

This is a fun little car to drive but our owner is onto the next rare or quirky car fulfillment.
