Chrysler DeSoto Airflow Sedan 1935
Brighton Motorsports is pleased to offer this exceptionally classy 1935 DeSoto Airflow Street Rod. This beautiful car seamlessly combines 1930’s futuristic aerodynamic styling with a modern drivetrain allowing many hours of comfortable cruising.
The DeSoto Airflow was the more affordable (and slightly downsized) version of the Chrysler Airflow that most car enthusiasts are familiar with. However, the DeSoto actually outsold the Chrysler.
Engineering-wise, the Airflow was significantly ahead of its time, incorporating an all-welded steel unibody construction, improved suspension design with softer spring rates for a better ride, and aerodynamic styling that was refined by many hours in the wind tunnel.
The initial version of the Airflow body design was not well received by the public, it was just too futuristic. In order to temper things a bit, DeSoto implemented the “SkyScraper” grill for 1935, which added a bit of verticality to the front end, and a significant touch of Art-Deco class.
This Brighton Motorsports 1935 DeSoto has been carefully and tastefully restored with updated features such as a 350 Chevy V8 with automatic transmission, modern rack and pinion steering, air conditioning, and am/fm radio. The interior is living-room comfortable, with plush upholstered seating. The A/C blows cold, and the modern instrumentation has been carefully integrated into the original dashboard architecture. You can even crank open the base of the front windshields for a bit more “airflow” if desired.
Wherever you look, no expense has been spared in attention to detail – right down to the period correct “Roosevelt” plate on the front bumper. This is a truly unique and exclusive automobile, sure to be the star attraction anywhere you drive.
