Description
Brighton Motorsports is pleased to present this 1971 Austin Mini Mark III 1000 E, re-powered with the very desirable 1250-cc 4-cylinder engine. The Mini is the world’s first mass-produced transversely-mounted front-engine, front-wheel drive car. This mini wears the “Innocenti” badging and is left-hand drive. It has just 38,871 kilometers (24,153 miles) on the odometer, which are believed to be original (as indicated on the title).
This car has been treated to a cosmetic restoration and mechanical upgrades. The original 998-cc engine has been replaced with the more powerful 1250-cc 4-cylinder engine, solid-state Crane Fireball ignition, tube header exhaust, KONI shocks and correct aluminum wheels. The result is more power and better handling, making this already fun to drive Mini a real kick in the pants to drive!
The paint and body is in very good condition, and color-matched fender flairs and the Union Jack on the roof add a very cool English touring touch. The chrome, glass, and weather-stripping are all in very good condition.
The interior is old-school and period correct, finished in black and grey with black/white hounds tooth seating. The carpet, headliner, trim and door panels are all in very good condition. Due to the front-wheel-drive layout, the interior of the car is surprisingly roomy and comfortable.
We love Mini’s and we’ve owned several and driven dozens, and seen even more at shows and events – and this Mini is certainly one of the all-around nicest looking and driving Mini’s we’ve ever seen. It turns heads and is an instant conversation starter!
